Specialists in Nickel Plating

Nickel BathSince 1958, LATRONICS Corporation has maintained a manufacturing facility and a staff of trained specialists dedicated to the design and production of hermetic seals. Hermetic seals require nickel plating for corrosion protection and subsequent soldering applications. For this reason, nickel plating is one of LATRONICS Corporation's core manufacturing processes. LATRONICS experience as a nickel plater can be beneficial to any company that requires nickel plating as an outside service.

Latronics meets the following Finishing Quality Specifications:

LATRONICS Corporation offers three types of Nickel Plating:

1. Electrolytic Sulfamate Nickel Plating

This is a low-stress deposit with excellent ductility. Parts plated with this application can be bent, formed, or crimped without damage to the nickel-plated layer. LATRONICS sulfamate nickel coating performs well at high temperature and is corrosion-resistant. Electrolytic sulfamate nickel has high-dimensional accuracy with typical thickness of 100-700 micro-inches. LATRONICS utilizes an automated high-volume plating line where rack and barrel methods are available.

2. Boron Electroless Nickel Plating

Since 1987, LATRONICS has developed an expertise in boron electroless nickel plating. LATRONICS hermetic seals require boron electroless nickel because of its physical qualities, and because boron nickel provides a suitable surface for soldering or brazing. In recent years, many manufacturers have replaced expensive gold plating with the lower-cost boron electroless nickel. This method offers a high melting point for high temperature resistance. Boron nickel is the best choice for wear applications in which subsequent heat-treating is not practical.

3. Ultra Bright Low Medium Phosphorus Electroless Nickel

This process is used to deposit an ultra bright nickel coating. Low-medium phosphorus electroless nickel offers industrial and engineering applications a practical finish where excellent hardness, wear resistance and corrosion resistance are primary concerns. This finish is especially resistant to alkaline environments and has built-in lubricity characteristics.
